It has been a long while getting back to a large tank (I have never really had a large one, but I have only had my 29 gallon for a long time.

We are also finishing our house (we have a section of the house that was never finished when we bought it, and are finally finishing it, and adding in my aquarium.

We are just in the framing stage right now, so not much to show.  I also don't have that tank yet, but here are the tank dimensions, and the house plans.  I will also have a closet for some RO, and saltwater tanks on the other side of the room.  I have have water lines between to two, and plan on setting up an automatic water change system.

This tank is going to be fish only, as I am going to have some fish that probably wouldn't work out to well in a reef tank.
Here is the list I am looking at:
3 Schooling Bannerfish
Porcupine puffer, or other puffer
Auriga Butterflyfish
flame angel
Cherub angel
blue jaw trigger or Humu trigger
8 neon damsels (maybe)
2 clownfish

Are there any good suggestions for lighting on this tank?  I won't have live corals, so that is not important, but I want it to look good.

This is going to be preference and budget.

Shimmer and awesome blue?  Kessil.

Power and a little less shimmer?  Radion.

Power/less shimmer and cheaper than Radion? Aquaillumination.

For no corals, I would say LED's for sure.

If it were me, I would go with whatever deal I can find, used.

Yes, for sure I am going LED.  And since there are no corals, I am not sure how many watts I really need.  I want it to look nice, but I don't see the need to spend the money on a kessil (it would be several thousand to light with kessil).

I was thinking along the lines of a Orbit Marine 48"- 60" IC LOOP PRO Dual LED
But would that not be enough light?  Maybe two of the duel ones, so four strips?

And even cheaper would be a micmul LED light off of amazon.

or the Maxspect Razor X 300w LED.   I am not sure if this would be overkill for a fish only.

I don’t know.  In my experience lighting is such an important component.  I love the way high end lights look over my rocks and fish.  More power is certainly better.

Are you able to go check out some friends tanks that might
Be able to show you?   I run halides and reef brites. But I’m mainly into coral.

I lit my my 180 gallon with kessil a160's for a couple of years. I only had 4 running at 100% but they still grew softies and lps well and would be more than enough for a fish only tank. You don't need a lot of light. I think you might be able to get away with 2 but 4 would definitely work. You can get them used for cheap on ebay. I also have a a360 you could have for like 20 bucks, it has some of the leds burned out but most of them are still working.

even 4 of the 160's is not as much as I thought.  I was thinking  I would need more than that.

Thanks for the ideas.  Maybe I will try two of them, and see if it is enough light, and if not, add a couple more.

I am not sure I am that patient.  Can you link 160's with 360's and control them all with an apex?

Both lights use the same cable and 0-10v control. Yes you can hook them up to the apex. That is why I moved over to kessil lights you just plug them in and they work no extra apps and no glitchy wifi connections.
