Puffer Fish Poison Painkiller
TORONTO -- A tiny Canadian company wants to use poison from a fish -- a substance more toxic than cyanide -- to help cancer patients suppress pain or to wean heroin addicts off their habit.

So, are the pot dealers going to start opening up LFS everywhere? Will it go from a dime bag to a dime bowl? If someone sells a puffer, does that make them a drug dealer?
It's pretty neat though how there is so much out there all around us that may bring relief to those who need it. Hopefully, they will find more cures soon though.
Interesting article, thanks!

sounds like there are many diff types of blowfish used to prepare fugu -
"40 kinds of blow fish are caught and cultured in Japan and that 10000 tons of blow fish are consumed each year." and "It's said that the most poisonous fugu, "Tora-fugu," is the most delicious."

this is a bit more specific - http://www.american.edu/projects/mandala/TED/blowfish.htm

I'm a sushi freak, I'll have to ask Linda for it next time I go to Ichiban.

We all know Jake has good taste. Carl, at least you tried it. Eric & Adam, "I'm just trying to free your mind..."
You guys should go to sushi after one of your meetings. Adam, I know you eat caulerpa. Nori is not that different.

I'm in on the Sushi, although I'd even prefer plain old Sashimi.

I'm a Nigiri fan, myself. Nothing beats yellow-tail nigiri and a sopporo. I would like nothing better than to eat the fish by itself just after I caught it.

In my time in Japan, I learned a lot about sushi when I would go with my Japanese friends to the Aquarium. They sure look at their aquariums different than I used to! I love sushi too! However, my SWMBO (She who must be obeyed) does not like sushi!

Speaking of Sopporo... crazy, have you ever been to Japan? It's the strangest thing, there are vending machines on many street corners. One is soda, one is fruit juices and the other is beer. And I mean big cans too... like about a gallon or two size "pony keg"! First and only time I've seen beer vending machines .

Was it real beer? A vending machine with real Amber Ale and Michelob and Bud Light? Polygamy Porter, maybe? (Take one home to the wives).

There are beer machines in Germany as well. At least on the Military bases.
