I thought this article was interesting as it dealt with feeding and deep sand beds (two things that are being discussed on the message board).

It is by Eric Borneman, Bob Mankin and Ron Shimek.

That's a really good article!

The thing I do really like about DSB's is that they really complete the bottom of the food chain in an aquarium. As food and waste are consumed and broken down by fish and crabs and shrimp and cucumbers, etc., eventually they get too small for any "big" animal in your aquarium to eat. The life in the sand bed can eat it though!

Thanks for pointing out that article, Jake.

Two of those were our guest speakers last year, Eric Borneman and Ron Shimek. Their similar comments to us then is part of the reason I began a discovery of my own to see what effect ample feeding had on my tank.

I found that lots of fine particle food swirling around the tank a couple times daily caused unusually rapid growth of every invert you can think of. Coral, clam, worm, crab, grammeras, copepod, sponge, etc. Rather than a filtration problem, it became a growth problem, if you want to call it that .
