How does the club use my membership dues?

Membership dues (and any other funds the club collects) are used for the general administration of the club. Club funds are spent at the discretion of the president and presidency council.

Some examples of club expenses:

Hosting Guest Speakers.
Guest speaker costs include airfare, hotel accomodations, meals, entertainment, etc.

Monthly meetings.
Rental of meeting location.
Treats and refreshments served at meetings.

Coral cutting / propagation meetings.
The club must purchase some corals and inverts.
Salt to make salt water to package frags.
Bags, rubberbands, etc. for packaging.

Purchase of club assets used for club meetings, etc.
The club currently owns a projector, sound system, powerstrip, extension chord, reef tour signs, etc.

Members Only BBQ.
Costs include food, decorations, prizes, entertainment, etc.

Tank of the Month
ToM commendation plaques.

Administration costs
Postage, printing, etc.

Promotional Merchandise
The club does carry a very small amount of inventory of club promotional items.

Other.
Other costs include PayPal fees, website related expenses, bank charges, etc.
