Has anyone ever used these kits?

I priced out some nice stuff this weekend, but 350 seemed seriously high.

I don't think you really want 50 watt ballasts do you? Not much available in high color temp lamps. What are you trying to build?

I didn't mean 50W exclusively, but if anyone had used dyna-brites halie kits in general.

Specifically I'm converting a teeny half gallon hex into a reef. But got stymied by lighting options. Right now I'm using a goose-neck lamp with a 50/50 flourescent/actinic bulb in it. Sort of ghetto, but I wanted to experiment a little.

Wow! On something that size, I think I'd stick with PC's or experiment with LED's.
