Alright, I've got a big question/concern... has anyone ever had fish just disappear? How about twice?

About two months ago I finally got a blue spot jaw fish, and after a couple weeks in the tank he was settling into his little burro and eating like crazy. Then one day he just disappeared. I checked behind the tank to see if he jumped, in the overflow, I even ripped apart my tank to see if he'd died and was half-eaten somewhere under some live-rock. After all this, he was no where to be found. I just figured it was a fluke and carried on.

Well, today I went home to feed the fish, and my "false lemon peel" tang is gone. He's nowhere to be found. He's been eating fine, healthy and very active. I only have a 65G tank, so, there's not a whole lot of room for a fish like that to get lost in. Both of the fish were decent sized, about 4" long and doing great.

I don't have anything in my tank, that I'm aware of, that could have eaten anything that big. My anemone is large, buuuut, I doubt could choke down a decent sized healthy tang - and I didn't even have the anemone when the first fish disappeared. I have other, smaller fish in the tank that have been just fine, and are still swimming around.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be going on? If it is a predator, what could it be and how would I have not noticed it so far? Any ideas?

Clean up crews can make short work of anything that dies.

Jaw fish can get trapped under rocks that slip, even just a little. Other than that Its like Mike said. Ive seen fish consumed by bristle worms/crabs/and other fish in a couple of hours.
