Would you like to hear about aquarium keeping from other hobbyists in the area? How about finding better techniques to keep an aquarium looking good? Would you like to see other aquariums in southern Utah?
Then come join us in Coral Canyon Tuesday evening November 6th at 7:30 PM at the home of Mark and Donna Peterson. 3404 E Sweetwater Springs Dr. Washington, UT (near the intersection of I-15 and Hwy 9 to Hurricane, across the street from Coral Canyon Elementary School)

I think that is way cool that you are doing meetings Mark. My cousin that got me interested in SW is moving to St. George anytime now. Once she gets settled, she is going to join us here on the board and hopefully join you at your meetings.

The meeting went well. It was a pleasure to see so many interested hobbyists. The first meeting of the WMAS in March 1995 began with 6 people. Thanks to the success of the WMAS, this first meeting of hobbyists from the south part of Utah was enjoyed by 10 people.
From UtahReefs.com there were:
hydroid/Todd
pollo-quay/Ryan & Melanie
cl2ysta1/Crystal
jhamb/Jeremy
Mark Peterson with his lovely wife, great cook and budding reef enthusiast, Donna. (Thanks to Donna for delicious refreshments.)
Also attending were Tim Wasden and Jean & Nancy Michalski.
We spent the majority of time getting acquainted and developing friendships. The topics of future meetings will include fragging, water parameters, setup, aquascaping, equipment, supplements and additives.
The next get together is scheduled for Tuesday December 6th at the home of Jean & Nancy Michalski where we will enjoy seeing their new 300 gal tank which according to plan in 2 weeks will be filled to overflowing with the contents of their mature 180 and 150 gal tanks. They also have a 75 gal freshwater tank and a backyard pond with huge Koi. It will be informative and fun. Directions to the Michalski's home are on page 56 of the Reef Tour Booklet http://www.utahreefs.com/2007.pdf
The Michalski home is filled with works of art. Check it out in the American Artists section of www.mfpausa.com

I've got the best leathers in town! haha. I'm glad it opened up right away for both of you. Leathers are great salinity indicators. We used to use those swing arm hydrometers, until our leathers started acting funny. apparently they get weighed down with salt and stop being accurate. and our salinity was quite high. refractometers are def. the best to use, and if your leather starts acting funny. something is off ;)
you were in cedar right??? If you don't mind i'd love to come check out your tank sometime. let me know!
