they should heal up in a day or so mine has cuts and holes all of the time and they heal up in about 1 day. pics may help more. is it on the edges or the center? does it look like someone used a hole punch or another fish took a bite out of him?

they are in the center... looks more like small holes not bites, they are probably as you mentioned. he does zip all around the rocks and in little places i am surprised he fits. prob from that.
