I have never replaced bulbs before so I need to find out what some good bulbs are. I was going to replace my mh with 14k phoenix bulbs, but I dont know what to replace the other bulbs with. They are 21inchs long and they all say true anctic on them, so does that mean I should replace them with anctics or 50/50 anctic daylight or what? Any advice is appreciated.Confused

I would replace them with actinics again. They help show the color of the corals and help make them glow.

What m/h bulb did you have before?  If you were using 10k, the pheonix bulb will be give you alot more blue. I have 12k supplementation with my pheonix bulbs.  I would suggest the 50/50 bulbs.

I found that with the Pheonix 14Ks on I didn't even need the actinic supplementation anymore as (IMO) turning the actinics on neither added any appreciable quantity of light (i.e. the tank didn't look any "brighter" with them on vs. off) nor did it change the color spectrum or "pop" look to anything with them on compared to the MHs alone...

Haven't seen a slowing of growth or fading of colors and it saves me almost 400w of electricty...so...Clap

I like to use the actinics by themselves before and after the MH photo period.
