I'm not sure if Snickers or Seamuffin is the Mommy!

I found these in our tank this morning! I don't know if any will live,
so I'm kinda looking at this like an experiment. Bob Burhans said the
success of the fry living depends on the health of the parents. I know
the females are healthy, but Seabiscuit has been my most
challenging case. I don't know if you remember how emaciated he
was after under going surgery, and I still thought he was bloated
from gas bubble dzz. He was having locomotion and proprioception
issues (He was floating upside down and using a ton of energy just
to hitch)! I don't know how he could breed! He doesn't eat well, but
has eaten everyday with some major prodding from his mommy!

Here is Day 1 at the nursery:

In the nursery, I can control (sorta) the food, the ammonia, cleaning,
etc. Right now they are bathed in baby brine shrimp, rotifers and 50
micron golden pearls. I've got h2o dripping in slowly from the big
tanks, and I'll drain water as needed into our sump. For the next few
days, the only things that get to eat are the newborns! (And Daddy
Seabiscuit!)

I'm also taking advice from a couple of my favorite fish friends (See
how cool the WMAS is?). Here are some of the fry in our small nano
tank, living with our dwarf seahorses, with an undergravel filter and
lots of BBS.

The picture bites and of course the stinkin' battery died......but you
can see how small they are next to a calerpa root! And, he hitched
for a second!

I left some in the tank with the parents. There is no way I can keep
the concentration of BBS sufficient, but maybe some will find tiny
rots and amphipod larvae and other tiny food that the big guys don't
want. I have put some BBS in......

In this pic, the blurry spots are the babies, and right in the middle
is a semi clear shot! I tried to use my spy glass to get a pic, but they
won't stay still! And, that stinkin' battery!!!!

Thanks, Connie! I already put some in! I put everything in! Now I
won't be able to tell what they are eating! Some look like they are
eating something, mostly off the bottom. In the nursery, I put a
piece of plastic mesh in, but they are not hitching yet......

Do you want first dibs, if any make it?

Congratulations and good luck (with the horses and the hoof)!

He was having locomotion and proprioception issues (He was floating upside down and using a ton of energy just to hitch)! I don't know how he could breed!

As a male, all I'll say is it's one of those men are from mars women from venus sort of things .  There's always room for jello...

Jon, what DID you EDIT? I thought it would be hard to do when one
guys floating! Seahorses breed standing up and dancing!

Connie, it's RICE! Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation! And, I can
only do the Compression part! I got newborns to take care of ( I
almost wrote "newborns to nurse"- like anybody's gonna believe
that!) !!!

Jake, do you think Seabiscuit will breed again soon? Or are you
thinking Mr Big or Smarty Jones? What do I need to do to get ready?
Get another tank?

If any of theses guys survive or another batch survives, I'm changing
my sign on name for sure!!!

WOW Suzy that is soo cool.

I love the creative names you give your guys . . .  And that tile looks great too!  Slow down girl or you may have a coronary, kill yourself, or ruin that millwork in your basement!

Did you get your nursery-PVC pipe-tank figured out?  Gently sliding a piece of clear glass in the tank behind the little ponies to crowd them to the front glass in the tank might help you to get a clear picture.

Suzy, can I get on the list for a filley(sp) from Seabisciut? You might have to quit the human nursing business and open an Southvalley Seahorse nursey. Would you accept a IHC copay?

Kirk, you're on the list! I would so love to quit human nursing and be
a seahorse farmer! And, we have IHC. That's why I'm not getting a
ankle film!

Richard, I never got the PVC thing made before they arrived! I really
thought Seabiscuit was dying, the way he was lying under our rock
structure yesterday. But, they are not at the top snicking air like that
"other" web site message board said they would. I think maybe that
other MB is full of    !!!! And, I'm not worried about my arteries
(yet), 'cause I've got the superior hormone ESTROGEN!

So, did anybody see what Jon edited? I am so curious , what with
the jello reference he left.......
