Three months ago Will Spencer and I sat down for an afternoon discussion regarding the WMAS. We talked about all the things that were going well, and all the things that could use improvement. On that day we made a decision that despite the growth and development of the club we would NOT increase the size of the presidency. The realization of that decision hit us hard last night. Will and I met to review all of the needs the WMAS has and formulated a plan on how best to move forward. It took 5 hours.
The unfortunate part is that we had to turn away some amazing people who were willing to be on the presidency. They stuck their necks out there to be on the ballot and to face your tough questions. They did this because they wanted to give back to the club.
The good news is that they still can. And so can all of you. Will and I have a strong belief, or maybe hope is a better word, that we will be able to get more members involved in WMAS activities and events. The reason we decided (months ago) to not increase the size of the presidency is because we are planning to form several committees for next year. Committees for things like The Reef Tour, Southern Utah Reef Tour, Summer Barbecue, Valentines Banquet, Reef Fest Conference, Frag Seminars, and more.
It is out hope that all of you will join with us in making next year the best year ever. There are so many ways to get involved with this club. Hey why waste time, pm me now and ask how you can help. This club isn't about the presidency putting on events for you, it is about all of you working to help hobbyists with their love for marine life.
Get ready for some fish fun!
