Topic: Raising and Lowering MHs Posted: August 10 2004 at 5:35am |
I'm looking for ideas for a new method of raising and lower MH's on a frag tank. Anyone have any good photos or ideas for this.

I guess it depends on how your lights are set up now. The easiest way would be to use MH pendants hung from the ceiling. Then just shorten or extend the cable as needed.

Or hang the light in your canopy.

This is the same as hanging them from the ceiling, I can raise and lower them as needed.

Kirk, get a hold of Kevin Kunz (KeoDog). Stop by and have a look at his set-up over his 300 gallon tank. The lighting is all adjusted with a series of cables and pulleys. I think he used rope rather then steel cable, but can't remember for sure.

Kahuna/Kirk, lets get together on this. I'm looking at the same thing. Bugzme/Jeff, an Electrician, brought some aircraft cable to the meeting for me because when he was at my place, I was telling him how I was going to use chain to raise and lower my lights. But what he didn't bring was some kind of sliding adjuster. He says they are $20 each. I'm interested in asking him where I can look at those sliders to use with this aircraft cable. The cable is very strong, thin and nice looking but I wouldn't want to use a slider that would release on it's own. You know those sliders used on Space Lights. That's what I'm looking for. Otherwise I will use white painted chain with a simple "S" hook.

You may want to check out how Jim Perry did it.
