Topic: Your Favorite "Reef Safe" Fish ? Posted: May 04 2009 at 12:55pm |
So - I got some great responses to the post about which fish reefers have learned to hate, which leads me to the other side of the question...
What "Reef Safe" fish do you absolutely love? The fish that would lead you to say, "If I can't keep a _______ in my reef tank, then why bother?"
I'm getting ready to add some fish to my 90g and these responses have been great in helping me find the right fit.

I would have to say my firefish. It is so easy going and has been great from day one. It hid for the first week but now it is always out and eats everything. I have had it for over 15 months now.
I also have loved my gobies. I had a yellow clown goby and a green striped goby. The green striped was my favorite but my stupid surface skimmer killed it! I also liked my pearly jawfish for the whole 2 weeks I had it. Once again the surface skimmer killed it too.
You may also find people love the mandarins. Yes they are hard to care for but mine was so peaceful and just minded its' own business.

My favorite fish is our skopas tang. His coloring is like a backward siamese cat, and he has a great inquisitive little personality. He also plays nicely with others.

I would say that (as a group) tangs would be my favorite "reef safe" fishes
I'd put wrasses (the 'reef safe' ones, of course) 2nd
