Is it possible to remove the plastic trim on a 24 gallon jbj to go rimless?

I think I have seen it done before but it doesn't look the best. JBJ doesn't clean the glass to make it look nice. I actually think I saw one once where the glass was uneven and had rolling hills through it. It could have been an Oceanic BioCube though that I saw.

Also I would not risk it because JBJ uses the thinnest glass possible to cut costs. That is why they had so many issues to begin with with glass cracking on people.
