So I thought I'd just make a post regarding my new practice.
I'm really getting into soaking dry foods in liquids before feeding.  It gets me all giggity.  As a Barbecue Grill Master I've had my share of experiences in seasonings, marinating, rubs, sauces, and the like.  And of course I've played around with all sorts of things for fish foods.  But recently I've really gotten into it.

I now take flake foods, pellets, dried seaweed, algae sheets, and watever else and about twice per day I mix one of them with a liquid.  Garlic, zoecon, selco, reef accelerator, sea elements, fuel, vibrance, velvet green, liquifry, poly vi sol, or who knows what else.

I'm really diggin' it.

Ha ha - you rock. Some of us work.

I have been adding zooplankton, brine or mysis, and garlic in some water... I throw in some algae sheet pieces which float around and my striped tang eats those - but no one ever wanted it in the clip. Now that it moves, they go like carp after a turd.

The zooplankton seems to be a hit with my firefish, even though it's mainly for the sea apple, yes I know... I am living on the edge.

Why are you digging it Adam?   Have you seen any changes in the fish?

That is how I used to feed my 120. It would all go in to a 12oz bottle, shake well, and pour it into the tank.

Brad- no, I haven't  LOL  The fish just look great all the time.

But it makes me feel great.  Seeing the flakes all soaked up in vitamins, and then seeing the fish gobble em up is just exciting.  And I like the idea of getting live hufa animals into the flakes and then into the fish (like soaking in rotifers).  I must be a super reef geek to get my kicks from this.  It's like gut loading a ghost shrimp with cyclopeeze... that red color just looks sooo cool to me.

I always hear of guys soaking their fish food in selcon, but I've never tried it, so I was just wondering if it made a difference in their color or something.  It makes good sense to add vitamins and such. I just have never tried it.  I'll have to give it a shot.  I dont really want to go buy all of those, which one, or two would you recommend first?

I use Seachem's new vitamin mix that they handed out at the Reef Fest. I usually soak a cube of Marine Cuisine in that and garlic once a week. I have noticed better colors out of my fish when I feed Spirulina flakes a couple times a week.

Brad- I'd probably go with poly vi sol since I've been using it for years.  You can buy it at the grocery store which is nice.  Next choice for me would be kent garlic extreme.

Ryan- me too.  Good mixes as well.

It's a liquid vitamin for babies.  I buy mine at Albertson's near the pharmacy.

After thinking about this I'd also say that I like fuel for the price.  That's one big ol' bottle for $10.

I've never feed any other way. I always soak for 30 min all types off food. I take a plastic cup put the food/flakes in it and then add my supplements. I soak Garlic Extreme or Vitality. I've tried fuel but I prefer to dose that directly into the tank.

BTW Fuel is a great deal for the price. My tank growth has exploded since I started dosing it two months ago. Very happy consumer here.
None at the moment
