 I am currious if anyone on the forum uses bio balls for bio filtration other than wet dry? I just got a deal on some and was thinking of using them in my refuge alon with some live rock rubble.

I'm going to put some in my built in overflow to quieten it down some.  Where did you get them so you can share the "deal"?
