Here are some new pictures. I still need to clean the glass some more from the sand dust so the pictures aren't the best! It is really cool when I feed all the Firefish swim around in a large school eating while the Blue Spot jawfish watch everything and tring to sneek out of hiding to eat!!

It says above that you still have 100-150 lbs of sand to put in.....if that is the case and considering how long the tank has been running...I would wait to put the fish in. The tank is not going to be stable and those are not the most forgiving fish...

Yes, half the water in the tank is from the original tank plus 100lbs of the sand and 100lbs of LR so far from the original tank. I still have 150-200lbs of LR to put in but the tank has been running since last Thursday I just put in the last 60 gallons last night to start it running through the sump. I had thought I might put them in my holding tanks for a few days but I think that would spark territorial battles.

Territorial.
A male/female pair could be housed together. But normally, firefish are mostly solitary in nature.

I don't have a good feeling about that. You may want to rethink that move. Most likely (as in everyone I know) you'll be down to two firefish in a couple weeks.

Why territorial issues or jumping?

Well I spent most of the weekend sifting Utah sand for the tank which isn't much fun especially when it is still wet. So between the Utah sand and the sand I got with the first tank I now have about an inch across the bottom now. I'm looking at buying 100-150lbs more of sand in the next day or two. I also put the rock from one of my 30 gallon rubbermaid contains into the tank, still have two more. I then finished filling the tank last night and connecting all the plumbing. It has been kind of a slow process of filling the tank over the last week. So it is now up and running!!!!!
Then this afternoon I have a school of Firefish coming and a couple Blue Spot Jawfish. I will try and post some pictures this evening!

It's all coming together , I just need to build my sump and cut some holes in my stand and I'll be starting the cycle (I'll fill my tank with water even without the sump to get started faster). Let me know if you need any help!

So the mirrored film is installed on the back. I can tell that was a lot of fun!!! The Jawfish condos are built and in the tank. . Then tonight I started to fill it!!!!! . So far it has 50 gallons, a little sand and a few pieces of live rock in it for tonight. Only have 200 more gallons till the whole system in filled!

I agree with Dione and Madreefer. If you're going to have burrowing fish then just set the base rocks on the bottom before the sand. If you're really worried about the glass, I've heard of people laying down a sheet of starboard on the glass. It protects the glass without trapping sand and creating stagnant zones.

The bottom is tempered glass (in most cases) There is really no need for the egg crate except wanting it. However having a stale area that the under sand water movement cant reach will cause some nasty areas to deal with in the future. If you ever need to move the rock you will release the stinky poisons into your water. I saw a awesome demonstration at MACNA that showed the way water moved under the sand, very neat.

Very cool. I can't wait to see it setup.
I put rock right on the glass bottom before I added sand. Then I saw people using eggcrate like this and thought I had made a mistake with the rock on the glass. But I just left it as it was working and it is still working. I guess the pressure points are not too bad.

Had new 3/4" bulkhead picked up for me. Should be ready to install when I get home. Just have to find some help to lift the tank off the block and sit it into the stand so I can finish plumbing it!

As for the eggcrate I wasn't planning on putting it throughout the whole tank. I was just thinking I would put it under the large rock pile I'm planning to put on the one end of the tank.

I was thinking I would stack a pile of rock on one end of the tank and then maybe have a few piece come down the back but not alot and then a few smaller piece here and there as needed but I want to have a nice open sand bed in the middle and front of the tank. I also want to try and hide the powerheads in the rocks as best as possible as well.
