Topic: Steve's 180 Gallon Mixed Reef Posted: June 13 2011 at 5:32pm |
Tanuki- You can get them at Fish4U already in brackish water for about $5 each. I love mine and haven't ever had issues with keeping them with corals, inverts, etc.
SGH360- He is a couple years old (in my tank) but he was an adult when I bought him. He's probably about 8.5-9" now (getting time for a bigger tank).

Hey I used to have "Green" Spotted puffers in my Cichlid tank. Back when I had mine they came to Petco as brackish fish and were acclimated to SW. Now the only time I see them FS is as freshwater fish.
Do you know of a shop that sells them as Saltwater fish still?

Thanks! Hopefully I'll make progress faster with the warmer weather. Remodeling one tank and setting up another at the same time is getting to be a bit much

Thanks for the comments guys! So here's my first update:
So for you Nick, equipment...
Return Pumps- (2) Rio 32HF pumps at full throttle Circulation- (2) Koralia 3's but I am changing these out for Tunze Turbelle's with a wavebox Controller- Digital Aquatics RKE (I will be switching this out to the Vertex Cerebra as soon as it launches) Lighting- Sunlight Supply Tek 6-54w ATI Bulbs order as follows from front to back: Purple Plus Aquablue Plus Blue Plus Aquablue Plus Blue Plus Purple Plus
Skimmer- Tcfab monster cone (the BIG one!!!!) Found a pic from just before it went in the sump:
Heating- 500w Titanium Element Heater
RDP Refugium with 4-5 different macro algae
Carbon dosing with the Brightwell Aquatics system (MB7)
David- The puffer does great doesn't bother anyone and just rides the current all day.
Seti007- Thanks! Your tank is amazing as well, I LOVE all the SPS!
I'll be procuring my new coral over the next couple weeks as well as changing the rockscape a little so I'll update as I make more progress.

How does that little puffer do in a reef tank?
I used to have one with my freshwater fish, and I saw one the other day in walmart. I would love to add one to my tank, but didn't think it would be a good idea.
Edit: By the way, very nice tank... I love it

I hear ya. It's fun and rewarding to find little things (or big things) to tweak and upgrade a system.

I'll be breathing some new life into this thread. I'm planning a serious makeover, re-aquascaping, some new corals, as well as more fish. I'm also re-doing the way the tank is plumbed so I'll be posting my progress here over the coming weeks! I son't know why but setting up/ remodeling a tank is almost more fun to me than just having one.

Thanks Pam, Unfortunately I can't frag the red Goniopora (they don't recover well), but I can order you one. You'll have to come by and see it in person sometime!
