Topic: Best wife ever Posted: May 13 2010 at 9:02am |
I just celebrated my 32nd birthday and my amazing wife made me an amazing cake. The sides are made from edible (though not all that tasty) sugar glass and you can probably see the string suspending the sweedish fish. I'm a lucky guy.

Is that really a cake? Can you explain the design? I am stunned.

We started with a regular 13x9 cake. The sides are made from sugar glass, to make it we boiled a mixture of water, sugar, corn syrup, and food coloring. We boiled it until it got to 300 degrees and poured it into jelly roll pans. Once it began to set but was still kind of soft, we cut it to the size we needed. I can't remember the quantities of the ingredients we used for the glass, but we found the recipe by googling sugar glass recipe.
