I just picked up a 56 gal column last night (30"l x 18"w x 24"t), and want to drill it. It is a commercially built tank, with faux wood trim.

However there is a sticker on the bottom that says 'do not drill tempered glass'.

My question is, is only the bottom tempered?  I was thinking of drilling the back of it for an overflow.
Was that in there yesterday? Casper--WY windier than ?

Down to a 20, soon to double or nothing

In general only the bottom of the tanks are tempered because that is where the most weight is being supported and tempering the glass allows it to hold the extra weight.

I would still check with the manufacturer if you can before you attempt to drill it.
