 Topic: Acan receding

So I noticed yesterday that the bottom part of my acan had died and today it has slime coming off it, what I am wondering is if I need to cut the bad part off so it doesn't keep receding? I think I know what the problem was as I checked all my params last night when I noticed it and realized my salt was at 1.015 so I slowly brought it up to 1.026. I had added some RO water when I was cleaning out my sump and forgot to check the salinity. My brain is a bit fried right now:( Anyway here are a couple pics of it:

x2 on the coral revive. You may not want to stress an already stressed coral by cutting the bad part off , Unless it continues to spread.

It doesn't look to have a pink tint so it shouldn't be caused by bacteria... how is your magnesium levels?.... I bet your right about it being your low salinty. You can do as steve and kellerexpress said, or even just a iodine dip may help

When you're trying to feed a coral like that, do you have to try to feed the heads that are dying or does feeding the other heads suffice?

When I feed my acans I just feed the colony as a whole. Pretty sure they work collectively as a team and share energy. About 18 months ago I got into the whole acan frenzy and got three or four good sized colonies. After two months or so they all started to bleach. My magnesium had dipped down to about 900 because were using so much and water changes weren't replenishing enough. I dosed my tank with an entire bottle of magnesium and brought it back to 1300ish. All of my acans got color back and looked good. When I started feeding them, they grew way quick.

I always feed my acans, today almost 3/4 of the acan are affected. I am headed out here soon to get some of the coral Rx or revive whichever I can find. Will it come back at all or is it a loss?

Always sad to see a beautiful coral like that get "sick". Good luck with the Coral Revive and let us know if it starts fighting back! Best wishes!

Im not sure it will come back if the skeleton is showing like that. Sounds like it has continued to spread, in which case if it were me I would try and frag the good part now before its all gone. Dip the fragged portion in coral revive or some kind of dip to prevent infection and hope for the best.
