I got some wine glass caulpra a while back. It was growing wonderfully then I noticed it would be white in the morning when the lights first turned on then would green up latter on in the day. yesterday I noticed it didn't green up at all and now the green is in lines. I don't have a pic right now. It's almost like the photosynthetic cells have been sucked out of it. It's not squishy but feels like when I first got it. Is it dying or is this normal?

That means it's dissolving away. Most often this happens because it ran out of nutrients. Add some food to the system or remove another algae that is eating nutrients upstream ahead of the Caulerpa.
How long has the Mg been at 1400? This is usually not a cause but I've been seeing more and more hobbyists keeping Mg at elevated levels, so I'd like to see if high Mg might be a contributor to the Caulerpa's demise.

Am I too late? I've got chaeto in the display with the caulerpa. I'll cut a bunch of it out and do a water change and see if it will bring it back. about where should my Mg be? as for how long, I've only had a Mg test for about a month which is about when I added the caulerpa and it's always been at that level.

Well I was too late, snails and crabs had a good meal. I did realize something interesting. the decline started when I switched from tap water to RO for top off. I guess it really needed the extra stuff I was giving it.
