Ive been in the hobby a short time.  Looks like some sort of sponge to me.

Looks like a sponge to me as well, I have them on some of the rock in my sump.

I wouldnt worry about them unless they start to take over some of your coral, zoas etc,  I think you can just pick them off if they do.
