I hate my phone today sigh 3600 gph pump necked down from 2 inch to half an inch pvc coming off the pump how much flow am I losing from this lack of insight ?

1/2" is very small. Are you sure it is not 3/4"?
Still a poor way to plumb the return.
Better to use a ball or gate valve to restrict the flow.
The return could then be split into two or more 1" -> 3/4" nozzles
