I'm in a 55 with overflow to a 20 gallon sump. Simply put i would like a bigger tank most likely 150. Can i use the same water live rock etc and switch to a bigger tank? Generally this would mean adding additional sand and rock. My tank has vita rock panels both on the back and bottom (no sand) so i would need to add sand. I would not be having new panels made for the bottom but want sand. Am I going to have to cycle a new tank? Or is there any way i can get a larger tank and just switch, adding sand and additional live rock? I would be getting a bigger sump as well but using the same Protein Skimmer, UV S, Calc Reactor, Auto Topper etc. What do you all think?

Is all your other equipment big enough to handle the increase in water volume? Otherwise I would recommend taking it slow and building up the things you need. You are going to have at least a small cycle adding additional live rock to a new tank, especially if it isn't fully cured. You can use all dead (clean) sand and seed it with a few cups of live sand to get the sandbed going. What livestock would you be moving? What is your fish population? Do you have macro algae or a refugium?
