I'll take some Caulerpa Mexicana/Feather C. off your hands. I'd like to get some more of that stuff. Unfortuantlly, I don't know how to premanantly remove it. Unless you get it all the way off your rocks, if a little remains, it will just keep growing. Let me know if I can come get some.

Acar, I believe that you are using tapwater. Am I right?

With the use of tapwater, if any of those algaes are left to grow unchecked for a week or two they can become a real headache. Not to worry, they are controllable, but it takes some time to get them back under control.

It is really good thing in two very important ways. The algae is using nutrients that would cause other problems for the aquarium, and, that growth keeps the hairy stuff from growing. I'll take a Caulerpa problem over a hair algae problem any day.

There are some fish that can help.

Yes feel free to call.

Acar tells me that his local PetsMart has a Purple Tang for $20. ! I say buy it and see if it likes eating Caulerpa.

He is going to begin buying RO water and look into getting an RO unit.

The little white snails/centipedes that the LFS told him are "parasites" are really tiny feather duster worms.

He found another hobbyist living nearby and perhaps together they can build a refugium.

Hello everyone,

Quote The little white snails/centipedes that the LFS told him are "parasites" are really tiny feather duster worms.

Too funny, I'll have to add that to my list of incredibly bad advice from pet stores. I wonder what they sell that solves this "problem".

Thanks,

Chris

Could I get some of the caulerpa mexicana from you?   I've wanted some for a really long time.  I love the feathery leaves.
