A while back i asked for identification of a new discovery in my sump.  It was suggested that it may be pineapple sponge.   Finding a picture for comparison confirmed the ID.  Well now they are starting to show up in my display.  Is that OK?

Also, I have recently found what appears to be very tiny, white snails in my display.  I needed a magnifying glass to id these little guys.  Any concerns here?

thanks

Rick

Perfectly normal. You'll find as your tank matures they will decrease in number.

As for the snails there are several types of tiny snails that naturally occur in reef tanks, or if you have cerith snails they may very well be juveniles of the latter.

OR

If they tend to congregate on larger snails and tridacnid clams they could be pyramid snails in which case your should purchase a yellow coris or other reef safe Halichoeres wrasse which will get rid of them promptly. I recommend either a Christmas wrasse, or the increasingly popular (and in my opinion deservedly so) Wardley wrasse; otherwise known as the Melanarus wrasse (Halichoeres Melanarus). Here is a photo of pyramid snails feeding on an astrea snail for reference:

Thanks Steve

I haven't seen the type that is in the picture.  So, they must be one of the naturally occurring type.
