Yep, happens all the time.
Rule of Thumb - wait a long time before tossing out an LPS skeleton. It can grow lots of babies.

LPS often sprout new heads from "dead" skeletons.  If it is growing new heads, aside from sprouting a new polyps from a seemingly dead head, then the coral is still alive.

Mark, You replied to a post of mine where the polyps bailed out of a bubble coral.  How long should I keep the skeleton before I write it off as dead?  I'll likely keep the skeleton in my sump anyway (where it is now) because it's a good pod apartment, and it's actually starting to grow sponge on it.

I had a basketball sized frogspawn completely die off on me about 5 years ago.  I left the dead skeleton in my tank for 2 full years.  Then I bought a frag of Hammer and put it in the frogspawn skeleton and dang if the frogspawn didn't come back to life.  Two years later it is now about the size of a volleyball again.
