Any chance of a better pic? Might not be a monti but the leftover base of an acro. An encrusting monti would probably have more polyps but I could be wrong.

That's an old picture of it and it wasn't all that happy there. I'll work on a better picture tonight. I'm pretty sure it's a montipora, but you actually could be right about it being an acropora now that I think about it.

+1 doesn't look like any monti i've ever seen, like billy said they usually have more polyps.

That's what I thought originally, but after looking at pictures it doesn't look like it.

If it is an acro, is there any way I can get it to branch for me? I've tried the method of scratching or slightly damaging it, but so far it hasn't branched at all.

Let it grow by itself in good light and flow. If it turns out to be an amazing rainbow acro you owe me a frag for the advice =P

LOL. I'll have to try to remember that...maybe I'll temporarily name it "Billy's Acro"

I've had it for about 2, maybe 3 months, and all it has done is encrust. It's already in great flow and near the top of my tank, so lighting is also good. I'll work on getting better pictures tonight. Thank you everyone for the help, and any further help.

Ok, well I have to retake pictures today, but I'm pretty sure it's an acro now. Any ID for what type of acro it might be?
