It's amazing how much of a difference a lighting upgrade can do.

I think youll be good with the 9. I also wanted enough light to grow whatever I wanted. What color combo did you go with?

It's been awhile since I have updated. About 1 month ago I had a major disaster in my tank. The impeller on my HOB jammed and stopped working overnight. I lost all my fish and inverts. After a very upset wife and a major overhaul the tank is starting to look the same again. Amazingly no corals were lost at all in the tragedy. Growth continues to be good and color is as brilliant as ever. A small Banghai Cardinal has been added. Along with a trio of Sexy Shrimp and a brilliant Maxima clam.

You're just the person I would love to chat with. I've been out of salt water for years now and just bought a 12 gal fluval edge and want to do a little reef like yours. The lights is my main question, with the crappy standard lights it comes with, I can't do a reef right? So how did you modify your lighting? What did you use? is it hard to maintain a reef in a fluval? Help me Obi Wan Kanobi..... You're my only hope.
Would love to talk to you on the phone, or come see your tank and ask you some questions depending on what city you live in...
