This sounds totally cool. I'm all for a laser that BURNS! but the club accepts NO RESPONSIBILITY!

How much do you think it will cost to make?

Hmmm...What else can I burn from a distance?

Honestly I can build one for under $50 so it'll only take a few $10 donations.

Are you using a driver and a heatsink ? Without a heat sink the diode won't last long.

Although this is a cool theory. I don't think its possible to go through the glass and water and burn them. It would most definitely burn them if you pulled the rock out and have it closer.

Lasers do work for this, theres several videos on youtube of it.

In the linked videos they're using a 445nm violet-blue laser pointer, the burner laser is 650nm red (for DVD burner lasers) but should have the same effect.

I would like one before buying the spyder 3 laser. You should build and sell them too.

be sure to include the danger of reflected light. You should probably get glasses that have blocking at the wavelength you get the laser built for.
