Surprisingly google didnt give me an answer so hopefully someone has some advice. I was out of town and had an Acropora echinata frag fall into my candy canes for a few days and it has some of the tips completely white from being stung. Only about one fourth inch damage but its bone white. Do I cut off the white  damaged part or leave it alone? Thanks

I usually cut the skeleton. I've noticed that they seem to regrow faster than leaving the skeleton intact. But...it should still regrow over the original skeleton with no problem. You may just notice a slightly odd growth change there.

you should cut slightly lower than the white. I've had a few frags continue to die since the weren't cut. I think the chemicals from the sting continued to affect the healthy portion of the coral even though it hadnt come in direct contact.

Yeah... CUT IT back.
I have had a few issues with coral taking a very long time to grow back over dead areas and its made a lot worse if it sits long enough to get any algae on it at all.  I don't mean big globs of algae I just mean that once the skeleton turns into the brownish reddish color all dead rock takes on after a week or three in the tank.. you might as well cut into live flesh at that point cause some corals hate to grow over that.  Surprisingly, some SPS do just fine and its mostly LPS that are the worst at this in my experience but its somewhat limited- .. although my Galaxia keeps adding to my experience base here and I think I am going to post it on the For Sale thread this week.....
Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler -A.E.
57 Gallon RImless build in progress check the thread before if becomes boring and just full of nice pictures of colorful coral!
