Topic: 150 Gal Mixed Reef "Not Reef Safe" Take two begins Posted: July 23 2013 at 11:18pm |
I like reading the tank build threads so much I thought I would share my new build with everyone also. I am putting together a 150 gallon tank (72x18x28). I will be shutting down my 60, 37, and 14 gallon tanks and combining them into this one. So far all I have purchased is the tank. Thanks to Brad at the Aquarium! The stand will likely come from Richins Carpentry (My wife had plans for this one). Custom 50 gallon sump built by me. Lights will be 3 AI Sols that I already have. Here is a picture to start things off.

Yes, But no scratches yet. For those that have been to my house it is going to go at the top of the second floor landing where the 60 gallon currently resides. This is viewable from the main living/kitchen area on the main floor and from the second level also. I can't hardly wait to move it up the stairs. 1/2 inch glass is heavy!

I didn't realize they had realsed Angry Birds Oceans yet. From the expression it looks like there may still be some graphics issues to address. That is an awesome sea turtle.

The kids are little swimmers for sure!
Sump has been purchased. I found a good deal on a commercially made one after all. It is an all acrylic 50 gallon that is 54x16x16 that will work well.
Karen and I had a great meeting with Adam at Richins Carpentry today about our stand requirements/wants. Now we wait and see what Dion comes back with for a price. The color we picked is called "Moody Blue".
As far as the clowns go I am going to have to sell one pair of the four. I am going to try and keep my Phantoms, Premium Picassos, and Fiji Pink Skunk pairs. The pink skunks get along great with a pair of ocellaris in my 37 gallon currently so I don't think there will be an issue. I have some creative rock work planned. In my head it looks good, well see when I put it together.

I am moving up in the world, all the modern conveniences for sure. I may buy a cordless telephone next, who knows. You should see the size of this skimmer! The DC pump is very nice, controllable and quiet.

Well frag me some of those Zoas I'm waiting for and I'll have a reason to come over and check it all out. Warning you will need some windex and paper towels to clean the drool off of that sparkling clean tank. :)

Updated parts list. Everything listed above is sitting at home waiting for attention. I've been told the stand is built, waiting on doors and paint now. Anticipation building.
