Currently I have a 30 gal breeder with a clownfish, purple firefish and a yellow watchman. I want to add a bangai but have read and heard a mix of their disposition. What's all your experience/knowledge/opinion of these fish?

Would be a good choice. I'd expect no problems adding one to that tank.

Nearly a perfect choice to add for that community.

I've heard and read that they are peaceful. Or semi-arrgressive. They do ok alone or they need one or two others. Thats it. So I just want some input from experience and knowledge so I know what I'm getting. Thanks! Will one do ok alone?

Yep, I'd feel really good with that.

Thanks. Experience from you guys is a lot more valuable than seemingly general info off other sites. I may get one soon.

Older Bangaii that have been alone for a while can be very cranky and may cause trouble for other Cardinals.

One younger Bangaii should do well in that tank with those fish. I would even consider two. Remember, they are nocturnal so don't expect Cardinals to be active much in the day. On the other hand, at night they move all over the tank. I often give mine a meal at night before I hit the sack.

Aloha,
Mark Hug
