So, I put him to close to a chalice. Like 3 inches away, but still too close. He started looking odd yesterday and I went home for lunch tonight and saw the chalices' sweepers all over the poor guy :(

I read a bit and everyone says to look for slime? or blow on him a little with a baster or whatever? I did push a little water on him and he just exploded! There was no skeleton showing before I blew on it. So Im hoping that what is left is alive.... He was very healthy 24 hours ago and half of the bottom piece appears well despite the destruction. It was even putting out its feeding tentacles when I got home so Im hoping at least part of him is gunna be ok.

Do I dip him? In what? Do I superglue him? How? Thanks for the advice. He is one of my favorites even tho he is just a little frag :(

I would move it further away from the chalice, like 6" or more. Otherwise it should be fine. As long as the coral was healthy before, it should recover on its own. There's a small chance of infection, but I wouldn't worry.

Thanks for the reply. I actually moved the chalice to the other side of the tank.... It was very healthy before so hopefully it gets better.

Is there any thing I should watch out for? Was it bad I blew on it? It literally just disintegrated like sand blowing away when the water hit it. 'if" it recovers properly, will it fill back up its skeleton or will there be a scar like thing and exposed skeleton?

When corals sting each other, they usually follow the sting by expeling their mesenterial filaments (their guts) to digest the coral. What you blew off was just digested coral. You did the right thing. The injured coral will heal and regrow over its skeleton, and you shouldn't notice anything wrong with it in a few months.

Remember how it looks now. If healthy tissue changes color to white, gray, or brown, then you've got a problem. It would also probably stink pretty bad if you took it out of the water.
