Topic: I'm back Posted: August 15 2014 at 12:51pm |
After a 4 year break from the hobby (and the business), I'm back in the game. My name is Steve Burton. I'm also Burton Marine and I live in Logan. Burton Marine may or may not be brought back to life... but I'm a hobbyist first. I bought Asad's (seti007) 3' X 3' X 2' rimless cube tank last month, after it passed though another owner, and I'll be setting it up soon. I'm still accumulating equipment and I need to decide which room in my house can be sacrificed for the pumps, sump, future frag tank, etc. Lately I've been trying to reach out to my old cache valley "fish friends" and meet a few new ones. My views are still a little old school for some on the board (metal halide lighting, beckett skimmers, closed loops with big iwaki pumps, etc) but I hope I still have some good advice in me.

I hope I can bring it back to life. I don't know the story of why he sold it because I didn't buy it from him directly. It was on ksl.com for weeks and no one would buy it. The overflow box is gone and one of the closed loop bulkheads in the back is broken and stuck in place. I guess I'll be carefully cutting it out with a hacksaw blade. I've built overflow boxes before so it'll be a fun project. 3 sides are starphire. It's my first rimless tank and my first starphire tank.

Here is a look at what it looked like when Asad owned it:

Aloha Steve, Nice to have you back. Asad now lives a dream life. He works a half year and travels the world the other half. You may know how likeable he is. He makes friends wherever he goes and stays with those friends when he's in their part of the world. His tanks are big, like the reef/ocean wherever he chooses to dive in. Mark
