I have a rainfordi goby that eats bryopsis. It cleared my tank completely. Not sure if this is an anomaly or not.

Anyone else had this experience with them?

I've seen many tanks with both coexisting...and others with only a rainfordi. First I've heard of one actually eating it though. Nice!

I've been trying everything to get rid of it. Had a copperband that started to eat it, but my clown fish killed it.

Been using Kent Magnesium at the higher levels and dosing daily, but still it is there Cry

Tech M was what I was going to go for until the goby ended up wiping it out.

It's one fat goby right now hahahaha. I was watching him chomp it voraciously. Guess I lucked out.

It also took me about 2-3 weeks at elevated mag before the bryopsis died off on my old system. Keep it up, and keep your spirits high! You got this!

After its all dead... keep doing it... There will be some that you dont see. I have seen people stop as soon as the visible Bryopsis is dead and then 2 weeks later its back. ... .So do it for a few weeks after its "gone"

Took 4 weeks with mag at 1800+ to get rid on mine as well. My mag runs high from my salt mix of choice so I had to take my levels higher to get the die off to occur. Keep at it.

Pete I wonder if your rainfordi is eating it because the tank is so clean and there isn't anything else for him to eat at the moment? In any case he may take a liking to it and be able to keep it under control without chemical warfare.

My rainfordi actually polished off all the bryopsis that is visible in the tank. I can't see any anymore. I actually skipped a water change and overfed intentionally to get some nutrients back in the water to encourage some algae growth for my little goby. He looks fat and happy, so I'm not too worried. He sifts through the sand and eats the algae on the sand. I don't think there is a shortage of food, but we'll see!

In my old tank I had to hit 1800 and keep it there for three weeks before seeing die off. I then kept it up for another four weeks and never had it come back.
None at the moment
