Hello everyone. I use to have an aquarium as a kid, missed it and finally able to get going again. Just purchased a new Cad 100 gallon system, got some live sand from Reefon, and a lot of good advice from Benepets (thanks Rus). I live in West Valley / Kearns and always open to suggestions and help anywhere I can get it. I just built a stand for lights will have pictures soon. Thanks again, and I look forward to meeting members.

Welcome!
There is a wealth of information on this site as well as free meetings the first Thursday of each month, hope to see you at one. There are a few other LFS near you as well, great to check out.
Check out some of the build threads, great advice in there. Great place to post your own and get comments and feedback.

Yes
LFS = Local Fish Store
SPS = Small Polyped Stony (a type of coral)
LPS = Large polyped Stony (a different type of coral)
Soft - bodied corals are usually just called 'softies'

Ahh. Now that makes sense. See all these abbreviations and I was clueless. Now I can put together coherent sentences.

Okay I have been cycling my tank for a week now, and finally have brown showing up on my live sand. About time to get some crabs and snails. However, I am still in need of a decent sized reef rock.

Krazie, Maybe twhall doesn't know me? Time to get acquainted.
If Tory would like to drive over to Murray, a visit to MarksReef Coral Farm could be an education as well as a windfall of free things to help his tank get up and running almost immediately with coral and fish. Please go to the Reefkeeping Tips link below to read more about how this is possible.

Okay so the tank is a CAD Lights 2015 100G Artisan II Reef system. if you look that up you'll see the package I got. been cycling now for two weeks. I've added about 45 lbs. of live rock and live sand from Reefon/ Benepets. all parameters are doing great. running at 78 degrees and salt parameters are 1.025. have added 10 crabs, and 30 margarita snails who are doing a great job of getting rid of the brown original algae growth. Have also added 3 Green Chromis fish which are doing very well. water is crystal clear and things in the tank are looking good. Sump is growing green algae where I've put the macro algae in (Thank you Mark) Also with this algae there was some polyps that came with the sand. I've put that all up in the tank and they're out and looking wonderful. Hoping to add some Firefish soon. but don't want to rush anything.

Sweet - What do you have in mind for a stocking plan after the firefish?
You going to make a top for it?

I did something similar and I know a lot of the open tanks here have it. Once you get hang of it, pretty easy to put together, really worth doing - carpet surfing sucks.
