Dang, that's a beautiful tank! Makes me want to shrink tank volume when I see something so clean and organized. My tank is slightly bigger, but is not as awesome looking because its such a slow build.

I have a photography question; are you using a gel on your lens or do you white balance with the blue lights on or something else? Great images by the way!

Thank you Marcos! This nano has been quite a challenge for me. Automation definitely helps (;

All of my photos are taken in RAW then the white balance is adjusted post processing. Kessil's are hard to get solid photos under in my opinion. It's been a lot of trial and error but I feel like I'm starting to get a grip on it. (:

I am sure; its a really pimped out tank! Kessil's are super tricky! I bought a red filter gel for over the actinic and am getting okay results. No where near what you are doing. I will just keep practicing like you until I figure it out.

I'm sure if my tank looked that nice my wife wouldn't care if I had another.

I don't have any experience with gels. What kind of camera are you shooting with?

@neurotivity, Holy Cow!  Just a stunning tank - I'm having total tank envy in the best way possible!

I have a nearly identical setup with nowhere near that level of results.  I switched out my Kessil for a Radion XR30 Pro and don't dose the Aquavitro but everything else looks the same.  Would you be willing to talk more about your maintenance/settings in case I can glean something to improve on?

Specifically, are you running a skimmer?  If so, what kind?
Water change schedule?
Filter floss/Chemipure/reactor/carbon?

Light schedule?
MP10 schedule?

Again, your tank looks amazing and is something to be aspired to!

Best,
Denise Porter

Absolutely! Thank you for the kind words Denise. I too have thought about switching over to a Radion XR30 Pro. However, everything seems to be doing well under the Kessil so I don't really want to change anything quite yet. I sense the 4th gens are coming out soon which may entice me to make the change. (;

In terms of maintenance, I do not run a skimmer as I haven't found a proven/effective option for the Fusion 20 tank. To keep my tank happy, I have one DOS unit dosing 2 part and another setup for AWC. It changes 1600ml per day which still requires me to dose 2 part.

I initially had a single DOS setup for AWC, hoping it would allow me to get away without dosing but I found that my consumption rate was still too high. My alk is scheduled to dose 6ml between 00:00-12:00 and I dose 5.5ml of calcium between 13:00-19:00. With dosing alk during that period my PH fluctuates very minimally.

My InTank media baskets contain floss on top, Chemipure Elite in the second chamber and Purigen on the bottom. Floss is replaced every 3 days and I change the Chemipure on a monthly basis, alternating each chamber 2 weeks apart.

My current photoperiod is 9:20AM-9:55PM. The peak duration is 4 hours, which ramps up from .(0%/5%) to (35%/50%) at 1:20. My MP10 is running at 75% on Reef-Crest mode without a night cycle.

My Parameters are:
Alk- 9.1
Ca- 450
Mg- 1350
PH- 8.2-8.3
Temp- 78
1.025 SG

I don't have any experience with them either, not anything real. Just playing around and experimenting with what I have read online. I am using a Mark 2 with a 100 macro and my iPhone. Both look the same.

@neurotivity, thanks for all the great info for comparison.  I found a few differences in our setup - some more substantial than others.  I'm happy to document if you'd like to discuss but didn't want to hijack your thread.

As for the skimmer, I am using a modified Cad Lights PLS-50 Elite.  It's a finicky bugger but it's certainly pulling some skimmate as opposed to the Ghost Desktop which didn't work for me at all and sounded like a foghorn.  The Cad Lights is super quiet but the foam column likes to collapse on me right now.  I used the mod directions found here to make it fit: http://www.nano-reef.com/topic/35148.../#entry4839549 and had a stand made for the second chamber so it sat at the correct height.  Very nice guy from reefcentral built out of acrylic and sent to me.

Let me know if you'd like to exchange PMs re: build differences or if you'd like to discuss in forum or if I should just bugger off!  :)

That's neat! I've heard of people having luck with the PLS-50 Elite. I certainly haven't ruled out the idea of a skimmer, I just haven't found a viable option for my setup.

Please don't feel as if you're being intrusive. I enjoy tank talk whether it's in a thread, PM or in person. (:
