Can you see if there is something inside of the mouth? Is the fish eating? you might want to reach out to reefdup for advice. Ive heard of parasitic isopods that eat clownfish tongues (as well as other fish).

I can't see anything stuck in his mouth. He had been eating until last night. But he wasn't having anything last night. And it still looks the same this morning.

I agree it can be a parasite living in the mouth/throat, or a tumor, usually unseen and ultimately deadly. For this condition, my next thought is a long shot solution, but have you been using a food supplement to inhibit parasites?
Aloha, Mark
P.S. If the clownfish gets near death, remove it ASAP so as to avoid the possibility of the parasite or it's offspring, if it is a parasite, becoming waterborne and taking up residence in other fish. Some parasites reproduce upon the death of their host.

He died tonight. Not sure what it was, I didn't see anything stuck in his mouth or throat. I got him out right after he died. all other fish seem to be doing great.

Sorry for the loss.
I forgot to mention that a freshwater dip can sometimes help for certain issues. It must be done early, while the fish is still strong enough to handle it. Unfortunately, a weakened fish placed in a freshwater dip usually dies anyway, not only from the dip, but from the stress of being caught and moved.
If this was a parasite, and it was large enough to cause the mouth to stay open that wide, a freshwater dip probably would have taken so long to kill the parasite, that it would have also killed the fish. On the other hand, a day or so in a container of tank water to which a parasite killing chemical had been added, may have done the job. Unfortunately, there are very few hobbyists that keep that kind of medication around.
FYI: - a parasite may not be visible to the eye and is usually the same color as fish tissue - a parasite(s) can grow on the gills and interfere with breathing/O2 exchange so that the fish keeps it's mouth open to enable more water to pass over the functioning area of the gills - Ich can infest the gills to the point of distress but still not be visible in great numbers externally
Aloha, Mark
P.S. One key to success is to get to know our pet fishies well enough so that a slight change in behavior is noticed early and dealt with early before the advanced stage of the illness becomes life threatening. This concept has kept many of my fish alive and is why I am so confident in the benefits of Garlic Oil. I recently replenished my supply of the best Garlic Oil, Solgar Garlic Oils Perles.
