i bought a single fish on Saturday, and I'm just now doing the research on it.  it drew me in by being a smaller, sifting goby that i wouldn't have to worry to much about burying corals.  upon reading, it seems that they are difficult to feed and rarely make it six months.  does anyone have any experience with these guys?
It is possible that longing for something is actually better than having it. Satisfaction is the death of desire.

I would trade it in for another fish.

A sand digging fish digs for food, right? In your new tank, food is scarce in your sand. I don't care for "sand throwing" fish because they disturb the sand bed. A digger/thrower messes up the biofiltration of what little sand bed we have. Compared to the amount of sand bed in the ocean, we don't have enough sand bed anyway.

I recommend a Bicolor Blenny or one of it's cousins as a first fish. They eat algae off the glass and rocks and they have great personality. Like all marine fish, after a while they can become territorial so be sure to use an acclimation container for introducing the next fish and follow the Reefkeeping Tip about adding new fish
