Now that I'm about to have a new 65 gallon ready to go (cycling) I'm planning for the future. Due to a previous WMAS meeting I'm thinking of numbers this time. So I'm putting it out there for all of you experts to chime in on this. I'd like to know, with a 65 gallon tank, what fish could I do in a numbers situation? 3, 5 or 7 of what fish can I put in a 65 gallon tank? *Please keep in mind that after I get them in I'll be putting in my pair of clowns. So if you feel I can have 7 fish of a certain size in a 65 then suggest 5 of one species so I can have my clowns too.

Start shooting out the names then! Here are some of my ideas, chalk basslets, royal grammas, neon gobies. No anthias, chromis or wrasses. I have no interest in them.

Well to start, you named three Atlantic fish. So I'm all giddy about an Atlantic tank. Atlantic rock and gorgonia.
Those three fish are perfect.

I would get a flame angel or a orchid dottyback. That would add a lot of color

I wouldn't do garden eels in 4.5" of sand. They would be cool and your other fish selections would be great with them but...

What about some cardinals? Not the normal pajamas and stuff but a group of longspine, or striped, or red spot?

Look on live aquaria site they have them listed. I have longspine and striped in my tank. I had red spots (thanks Adam) but they struggled with the larger fish I have in the tank.

I keep finding conflicting info about how many chalks I can keeping a 65. If I have two I'm told I have to have a 90 gal! Opinions?
