I recently bought this fella from The Aquarium.  It is a great little guy, or should I say big guy that is not much different looking than the small blue legged hermits that we know well only a larger scale version.  It has a beautiful shell that it carries and it has done wonderfully in my tank, but the oddest thing.....he has now decided that he likes getting his self lodged in between the branches of my "branching"alviapora.  I've studied it and can't see that he is eating it.  In fact it always lodges itself upside down where his face is facing the gravel beneath and the branches that have no live tissue.  I don't think he is eating it but I am not sure.  So I take him off of it and put him on the total opposite side of the tank, and what does he do?  As if like a magnet moments later he is right back where I took him from.  This has happened 6 times now and I expect that the next time I look in the tank he will be right back there.  Does anyone have any experience with these guys and do they eat corals?

If they are the electric blue hermits that I am thinking of (with blue and black striped legs), they are reef safe.  I currently have about 6 of them in my tank.  One word of caution however, they seem to be the most aggressive of the hermits in my tank, ie., they ate 6-10 of my snails.  I am now leaning more towards a snail only (for clean-up critters).  And yes, they get REALLY big - about 2x's bigger than my biggest scarlet; one is currently inhabiting a huge shell previously occupied by big Turbo.

HTH - Jared.

P.S. A good site for purchace and info on clean-up critters is: http://www.reeftopia.com/
