It will likely burn out the bulb, but I'm not completely sure.

I belive it will either not fire at all or blow the bulb , what about getting a 400 watt bulb from a comercial bulb (6500k)supplier like EWS there not that much and it's not for long enough to cause major problems with alge?

Connie-
I have two 400 watt 10K bulbs I'm not using.  Swing by tonight and you can borrow them, or I can bring them to you sometime soon.  I've been thinking about selling them, but I've kept them as spares.

Adam

Come to a meeting, they’re fun!

Adam thanks for the offer. I just checked with Champion Lighting and mine will be here tomorrow via the UPS truck.  Ill keep my fingers crossed that nothing dies before then...

Very unlikely, unless that's your only light source (PC or VHO actinic, window, etc.), or if the tank has been dark for 2 weeks.  There'sw no reason that you should have "lost" any SPS.

1. Are you sure they are dead and not just lightened because of the darkness.

2. There has got to be some outside light from a window and room lights will help too. For gosh sakes, remove the hood and let some light in.

Be sure to acclimate the tank to the new or renewed brighter 400 W MH lights.
