Okay, so a couple of weeks ago I bought a Sargassum Trigger. Very cool looking fish, but quite shy. For the first several days, I would only catch a glimpse of him as he dashed out of sight. Then, he started coming out and being more social. Now, for the last 3 or 4 days, I have not seen him at all. Not a sign of him. If he were some kind of little blennie or something I might just figure someone ate him or he got sucked into some plumbing. But this trigger is about the size of a taco! I've had no ammonia spikes or any other water quality problems to indicate a large something or other might be decomposing. Is it possible he has just gone into hibernation? Or maybe he died and my hermit crabs cleaned him? There's the posibility that he's still hiding, but it's been awhile now. I would think there would be some evidence of him. Any ideas?

I had a large tang that went missing. By the time I found out where it was there was nothing but a fish skeleton. I think it was about 4 days from when I last saw it.
I have not seen any rock crabs, but there is a lot of rock in my tank. What other predators might be able to take out such a large fish and leave no trace? What about serpent stars?

maybe a large mantis shrimp. or maybe he was just sick and found a nice rock to die in that's happened to me before with what seemed to be healthy fish
