Topic: Another mystery crab id???? Posted: February 02 2008 at 11:03am |
It never ceases to amaze me that I am still finding surprise critters after starting this a year ago. Anyone know what this guy is and if it is good or bad. I think it was hunting pods. If it is going to compete with my Mandarin, probably needs to go. Fast little bugger.

I couldn't find any info on what kind it is for sure, maybe strawberry crab? ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strawberry_crab), but I doubt he would be trouble. It sure is a cute crab though. Good find.

It is a cute crab but I don't want any troublemakers in the tank. It doesn't have any red in it at all, more brown and tan. Where can I look for an id?

No rock but I have gotten other things there. Yasha Hashe, Mandarin, hermits, snails, a pistol. I don't see how it could have hitch with them.

General rule is to check the claws, if they have a dish shape on the
end they are safe (safer), if they are pointy they could be trouble.

sallies are more detrivores. However, they are opportunistic feeders as well.
