I have what used to be a really nice cup coral that has been viciously attached by a torch coran and is dying.  About 3/4 of the cup coral has bit the dust already (over the last two days.) 
 
It is out of range of the torch at this point, but it's not looking good for the cup. 
 
Question - can I frag off the living part of the cup coral to save it, or will I just finish killing it.  And if I can frag it, what should I do with the frag?
