Topic: Large Blue Tang in Overflow --Saved Him! Posted: September 10 2010 at 10:37pm |
UPDATE - just got him out I only caused a small flood - and my wife was so happy to have him saved she didn't even care. How cool is that!?
I just found my large blue hippo tang in the overflow. I have a 150 and was underneath it cleaning the skimmer when I looked up and saw him through the glass.
He has been missing for 4 months and I thought he died and the crabs got him.
I put some food in for him and he ate like crazy -- he is skin and bones now.
How the heck do I get him out?
I'm sure some of you know some tricks.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Linn

Maybe,
I would need a really long handle and would need to take off the hood and light.
Two pipes are in there too.

Any way you could snap a photo of you overflow looking down into it?
That would help to see what the set up looks like and how much room you have to work with.

I had a maroon clown in mine, I shut off the pumps, put a bathtub drain plug in the end of the overflow pipe, turned on the return pump, waited until my overflow was full, turned off the pump and netted the fish.

I had a lunare wrasse go into my overflow. I also had 2 pipes in there so I put a sponge behind the pipes to force him out and then netted him. (he was not hard to catch cause he was so weak.)
