Dumb question maybe but here it goes... Is there a certain plastic that needs to be used in SW aquariums???  I'm just figuring out how to build my overflow box and all the piping to the sump, so I just wanted to know if any1 has had any problems with certain plastics :). Thanks for the information ahead of time :).

Overflow boxes are ususally made out of acrylic, not plastic

for plumbing (pipes / fittings), regular PVC from Home Depot / Lowes is fine - the kind you use for your sprinkler systems. Glues together with the usual PVC cement that you would use again for your sprinklers

What size of tank?
I have written up a thing about building your own "simple overflow" using PVC or ABS pipe and a Lees Specimen container. That's the hang on the tank box used by many LFS to keep your fish in before pouring in the bag. If you want a copy of the instructions, send an email request to [email protected]
