Iodine levels can adversely affect soft corals, zoas/palys, cloves, anthellia, and xenia in particular. Do you dose Iodine or Iodide in your tanks? If so what brands and what is your schedule?

It depends on your Iodide level. I would recommend a test kit, I have to dose Iodide in my tank daily to keep my levels in check. You do have to be careful dosing Iodide, because too much can actually do harm, as can not enough.

I agree with Steve and would recommend the SeaChem test kit over the Salifert for iodide. The Salifert kit gives a false positive for Iodine when dosing Aquavitro Vibrance. I use the salifert kits for everything else but after a lot of research I found an article on Saliferts site that explained that when using stabilized iodide like vibrance their kit can give a false positive.

Dosing iodine scares that crap out of me. I have read some horror stories of peeps nuking their tank.

As long as you're testing regularly you shouldn't have a problem. As with anything if you keep an eye on it it'll work out fine. Neglect it and dose without testing and you can have a problem.

Watch the coral. Add a little of anything and watch the coral. They may show a slight change or improvement. Follow their lead. If you have never added Iodine of any kind, it's time to. Add a small amount. Take it slowly and observe. Tests can be deceptive and can be wrong. Watch the coral.
